Over the weekend of the 11th of March, Dean, Shane and Andy worked on incorporating the Barossa 2M repeater – VK5RBV into the network.
Saturday saw a long day of work on the tower replacing antenna’s and feedlines.
Sunday, was an even longer day, installing the repeater into the rack, connecting and testing the equipment, installing the backup batteries and testing out the backbone links. This work meant that the backbone link for the Riverland was disconnected.
The backbone links required a little bit of re-configuration and finally on Tuesday, Dean and Shane were able to complete the work on the backbone link and re-establish the link out to Waikerie from Mt Kitchener. This change was a large improvement to the previous link from Mt Beevor to Waikerie with a considerable gain in the signal levels, which will greatly improve the link quality and reliability on this path.
The full details will be updated on the website in the coming days, but welcome to the Amateurs in the Barossa on now joining the linked Network
